20 things you need to do before traveling abroad – SKYOSKY

1. Make copies of travel documents

We do not plan to lose your passport during the holidays, but it is good to make backup copies for only one: take one with you and leave one at home.

2. Print a printed copy of the Itinerary and Confirmation

Do not assume that Wi-Fi will always be available to print an itinerary or to confirm your trip – always bring a hard copy with you in case.

I can't tell you how many times they made mistakes in my reservations and tried to beat me. Having a copy at hand will be in your favor.

I would also like to put a copy of my contact information and itinerary in my baggage in case it gets lost, so anyone who gets it will know how to contact me. You can also include this information in your luggage tag.

3. Check travel advice / register your trip

Depending on where you are traveling, there may be unexpected travel advice that you should know about. Sometimes your travel or health insurance may not be valid if there is current travel advice.

You can also register your trip to your country's embassy to know where you will be in an emergency.

Before you leave, it is important to call the bank (number on the back of your bank card) and tell them that you will be traveling. This allows you to use your card to make purchases abroad.

The fact that your bank cards are available does not mean that they will be accepted on any device. It is good to have local cash in cash, especially for smaller purchases.

6. Specify which documents to enter in the country

Most countries require a passport that is valid for six months or more after the date of return. You can also apply for a visa or special documents to allow you to enter the country.

For example, I needed to buy a visa to enter Turkey earlier this year.

7. Consult your doctor or insurance provider

It is best to consult your doctor or insurance provider before traveling to see if you need any prescription or vaccine before you travel.

You can also ask your doctor to allow you to bring certain prescription drugs to the country.

8. Investigate what you can / cannot bring to the ground

The last thing you want to do is arrive at your destination and find that some of the items you have packed are not allowed in the ground. It could be a seed or some food. Check in advance to avoid unnecessary interruptions.

9. Check the weather forecast before leaving

I like to do it about a week ago, then just a day before to make sure I packed it. If it is cold at home but you are traveling to a warm climate, it is likely that you will not need to bring a heavy jacket.

Rain may also appear in the forecast, which means you need an umbrella. Look forward to pack yourself properly.

10. Explore local customs and etiquette where you are visiting

It's always a good idea to read a little about local customs, culture and labeling so you know what to expect when traveling abroad.

Sometimes a hand gesture may have a different meaning in another country; you may need to dress more conservatively than at home. tilting policies may also vary – in any case, you don't want to do anything stupid, which you could avoid if you did your research beforehand.

12. Scroll through the wizard

I know some travelers prefer not to consult travel books, but I always like to walk around to get tips, see what sights and attractions are worth visiting, etc.

Many also include maps of different neighborhoods in the city, so you can better understand the layout of the city. If you don't want to invest in a guide, you can borrow it free of charge from your local library.

This should be self-explanatory, but not every country has the same tension. If you forget, you can always choose from the airport, but there you pay more. Instead, we recommend that you pick up the World Travel Adapter before traveling.

14. Learn a few key phrases in your local language

One of the best things you can do is learn at least one keyword or phrase in your local language. Even if you don't sound native, the locals still appreciate your efforts.

I noticed that this was particularly true at the time I was in Paris. Although I could only say a few words, I could say that I would appreciate that I tried to communicate with them in French before I switched to English.

Also, don't assume everyone knows English, because that's not the case. Once you get off the main tourist sites, fewer and fewer people speak English.

15. Watch a video on how to use the city's public transit system

Most metropolitan cities are equipped with a decent public transport system. Instead of paying a high price for taxis, try to learn how to use public transport. You save money and travel around the city faster than by car.

If you decide to rent a car, try to verify in advance whether you require an international driving license.

16. Specify your mobile phone plan

Whenever I leave the country, I always turn off my mobile data and switch to airplane mode. I use urban WiFi to make calls and text using apps like Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger.

If you require data, talk to your telephone service provider beforehand and set the right plan for you.

18. Explore how to get to the hotel from the airport

To avoid paying high taxi rates, it's a good idea to explore the best way to get to the hotel from the airport. Taxis sometimes offer a flat rate that you should know beforehand if they try to pull you out.

Most options include a shuttle service, a private car or public transport.

Knowing how much each option costs, and how long each option lasts, lets you choose the right one for your budget and needs.

19. Explore the local tourist scams where you will visit

You are likely to be able to detect fraud, but unfortunately this is not always the case. Understanding what to look for is a clever idea, so you can prevent you from being a victim of fraud.

Always remember your personal and personal bags.

20. Take some over-the-counter medicines and toiletries with you

I understand that some people want to pack easily by leaving their toiletries at home and think they can buy them at their destination.

Note, however, that some items may be difficult to find. If you're traveling to Korea, it will be hard to find a deodorant there, so bring with you some.
